Dear Mr. Dean:
My name is Levi Richards and I attend Brother Rice High School. I am writing this letter because I am troubled by the United States’ so called “War on Terror,” and I believe that you have the power to help bring the American troops home and back to safety. This war is unethical and illogical. The president should try to solve the problems in this country before he intervenes in another country.
People are dying so one man can benefit. There were no weapons of mass destruction. According to CNN, about 73,000 people have died so far, soldiers and Iraqis. The families of these people will never see their relatives again. They will never share the memories that families share with each other. Their children will never be able to spend time with them. No child deserves that.
The war is damaging the economy. America is spending billions of dollars. People are spending their hard earned money on something that they do not believe in. CNN indicates about 77% of people do not believe in this war. Of that 77%, 41% of people believe that it is going terribly. George Bush does not have the support of the American people.
In conclusion, I would like to say that this war is unethical. When thinking logically, it would make more sense to withdraw our troops and salvage what is left of the American economy. I urge you take what I have said into consideration and try to take a stand and try to bring our troops home.

War In Iraq
I believe that the war in Iraq is very unnecessary. This is a war based on uncertainties and lies. Our president, George W. Bush told the American people that there were Weapons of Mass Destruction. When the American troops infiltrated Iraq they discovered that there weren’t any (www.cnn.com).
This war is damaging the American economy. We are spending billions of dollars on this war (www.usatoday.com). American tax dollars are being wasted on something that most citizens don’t believe in. (www.cnn.com)
It is my belief that George Bush started this war for personal gain. Perhaps he is trying to be remembered by Americans in the future by starting this “War on Terror”. It seems that this war is not only about a war on terror but also about the Iraq oil supply. America is taking control of Iraq’s oil reserves while fighting in the war (John Cochrane).
Ninety nine soldiers in Iraq were killed this month alone, and 329 soldiers have been killed over the course of the past three. The death toll overall in Iraq of Americans has exceeded 3000 soldiers (http://icasualties.org/oif/). This is only a fraction of the deaths that this war has caused. It is estimated that over 70,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed (iraqbodycount.org). This means that the lives of over 73000 families have been ruined over a war based on lies and uncertainties. They will never be able to share the moments that families share with each other. Their children will never be able to spend time with their parents. How many more people have to be killed? When will the violence stop?
I am not the only person who feels this way. 77% of US citizens who were surveyed think that the war is not going into the right direction. Of that 77%, 47% of those people think that it is going terribly (www.peacetakescourage.com). That means that the majority of US citizens believe that this war is unnecessary.
George Bush needs to end this war. Even though he cannot bring back the soldiers that were killed, he can prevent more soldiers from dying. He needs to realize that it is time for us to leave and that he does not have the support of the majority of the American people anymore. He needs to admit his mistakes and lies and bring our troops home.
